25th January

Got up and showered. The showers in this one are really big. Big enough for more than 2 people anyhoo...

Went and found a post office so that Lydia could change some travellers cheques and I posted my post card. I'll prolly get back before it though,couldn't find one of a knight so Lorraine will be disappointed in me. Lol.

Went for breakfast which seems to be our thing here. I'm just suprised that I'm eating Breakfast. I never can at home.... Wierd.

The got the train to the Edo Museum. It was actually quite interesting really. All the stuff there was in stupidly good condition considering it's age. I know it's a museum and shit but you expect things to atleast look oldish. The stuff there looks like it could have been reproduced recently.

The beginning was good then it got kind of boring in the middle Then at the end it had about the war and shit- it really made the Americans shound ike a load of bastards and completely neglects to mention that Japan attacked America fisrt by bombing Pearl Harbour and if they hadn't of done then the US prolly wouldn't have got involved. It's kind of like American war movies that are basically all about how America won the entire war. Blah.

Pretty much after that we bummed- Talked to mum for a while. It's weird I'm really not home sick. Thought I would be. I know we've only been here like a week and a half but it's so different and I'm quite homey so yeah.

24th January

Today has been our most unsuccessfully successful day so far.

We got up and went to Starbucks. Then set off for the Sea Life centre. We may have kind of got off at the wrong station but thats what it said on the website so.... But yeah the centre is ages away so i don't know what that wa sall about.

Lydia had a bit of a hissy and we were going to split up. Then I tried to ask for directions in Japanese so yeah.

Then we just started walking. I'm not sure why, we just started walking. Figured we'd come across a train station at some point so yeah.

We found this like park thing with some cool fountains and shiz.

We found our first 100 yen shop. It's quite shocking what you can get for 51p!

We just carried on walking for a while. Then we found the Sea Life centre! I think it was because we just stopped looking for it. One problem- it was closed. I wtf? nIt's wednesday. Most places around here are closed Monday or Tesday so we didn't expect it to be closed.

But yeah it was right by the sea and there was this random glass building on the coast. And in the distance was the Disney castle!

Yeah so we found Disneyland. We walked further along the coast and found the entrace to the park and the station that we need to go to. I actually goes straight into the park- which is alot closer than we thought we could get on the trainwhich is great- won't get lost that day!

Found a supermarket tonight. Brought a load of food. Yeah.

23rd Jan

Today we went to Sunshine City. It's a huge like city in a citything. At first we were being completely retarded and couldn't find it. I mean it's one of the tallest buildings in Japan it shouldn't have been that hard to find. But we couldn't. Turns out we'd just come out of the wrong side of the station and because the station is surrounded by 2 huge department storeswe just couldn't see it.

Anyhoo we went under the station and came out the otherside. There was just like this street of shops leading to this huge building. Twas cool.

So yeah basically we just spent the day shopping. We found some quite nice little cute type shops. Like a Hello Kitty one which I actually spent a bitin. And compared to England it was actually cheapish which is always cool.

Had pasta for lunch. There seem to be quiet a few Italian resturants about which is kinda odd but cool.

We moved hostels today. Just up the road but still. It's good to have a change of scene and stuff. We're sharing a dorm with 4 guys atm. Actually met 2 of them. Ones a bit odd. He's Japanese and brings food back to the room at Midnight and eats rather than eating in the living room. Odd.

Then there's Charlie a Kiwi who's here to buy a racing car. He's alright really. He's a bit of a laugh. We were sat watching cartoons with him. Yar.

22nd Jan

Today's been a bit of a bumming day really.

Wen to find an electronics street in Akihabara. Couldn't find it but we did find some great cheap jewelery shops. Which did mean that I spent some money on something other than accomodation but yeah I've got some nice little bits of jewelery.

But yeah basically we just bummed around and shopped and shit. So yeah- uneventfulness.

We're moving hostels tommorow. We're going to one just up the road. Mainly for a change of scene really. We've been here nearly a week so....

21st Jan

Today we went to Roppongi. It was our most successful train day. I think we've mastered the subway! Plus its cheap- less than £2 there and back- and it's a 30 minute train journey both ways so....

Went to the Roppongi Hills shopping centre thing. It's full of really expensive shops full of lush things. There was quite a bit that I prolly would have brought If it wasn't for the fact that I'd have to lug it around.....

Oooo massive David Beckham waterfall things- Randomness. It's cos the centre is sponsered by Motorola and they use him so....

Had Indian for lunch- Just over £5 for an all you can eat curry buffet. Oh yes!

We actually managed to find Tokyo Tower all by ourseleves as well. We could see it of course up in the skyline, finding it on the ground was a bit mor difficult. But we managed it.

Tokyo Tower is frigging amazing! Theres like all theres museums and shit under it. Like a world record museum and a wax works- which was so funny because the wax works were just so bad! It was hilarious.

Waited until it was dark until we went up- 150m off the gound. nThe veiw from there was lush. Everything was all lit up by that time and everything. It was lush.

20th Jan

So. I woke up stupidly early this morning and then I couldn't get back to sleep dammit. You know when you're just like completely wide awake and can't sleep even though you want to . Well yeah. So then I went and bummed down on the internet for a bit. It's funny no one seems to be online at a time when normally they would be.

Ent to the Senso-Ji Temple this morning. It's the oldest temple in Tokyo/Japn. Love old Japanese artitecture.

Anyhoo then we went to the Imperial Palace in central Tokyo. It was strange it's Saturday and central Tokyo- which should be a kin to central Tokyo- was calm and tranquil hmm. Anyhoo, we couldn't actually go into the palace cos the royal family actually live there apparently. Anyways from what we actually saw it actually quite small so I'd want the Government building across the road if I was them!

Had lunch. Then went to the Tsukiji fish market. It was completelt grotty and disgusting. There were like trays of live fish that wre kind of all woggling around. Urgh and fish heads for sale. I mean wtf? Wouldn't you chuck that bit out? Who buys a fish head? Then we walked around trying to find a temple that we'd passed on our way out of the station and tbh didn't really look much like a temple- we thought it was a university seeing as there was a university sign out side of it.

Decided that we're not going to move around- tis too expensive to get down to Kyoto.. Sooooo we're going to just do Tokyo completely. *shrugs* I don't know if that's better or worse.....

19th Jan

Got up and showered, hadn't tried the showers out here and I was a bit worried that they'd be completely shitty but they were actually ok. They were kind of like little capsules.

Went to Starbucks again and had a white hot chocolate cos they are just lush. Then went back to Ueno.

We went to the National science museum which was ok. Only problem was most of it was in Japanese. Big suprise! There was English on some floors but not on others which was kind of odd.

Wen to the Toshogu Shrine. Theres a flame there from the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. It's used as a symbol of peace and is now set in a dove. Hmm..

Then we went and got coffee. There we met Mark- An Australian visiting friends here. Really he's the first English speaking person that we've properly spoken to. It was cool. Randomly went to the Tokyo museum together and the for food in TGI Fridays. It was kind of cool to Randomly meet an english speaking person.

Its weird. 99% of the people around here are Japanese. Yes I know it's Japan but most places you kind of get "a bit of everything" you know but here it's very rare that you see someone who isn't Japanese.

We tried sushi today. Hmm not going to be my favourite food. It tasted of the sea. I think it would be better if there had been less rice. Cold rice is just weird! But I tried it so.....

Think I might have slept funny last night. My shoulder hurts. Hopefully it'll pass but I'm kind of worried that it won't cos that would just kind of ruin things a bit.

I'm going to be completely out of the loop when I get home. I know it's not exactly important but I'm the one that's supposed to know everything cos I talk to everyone pretty much. And I know nothing ever really happens but I like knowing stuff. Even if it is nothing...

Also very teary... wrong time of the month. Argh *hates stupidness*

Everyone was saying how expensive Japan is but so far I've spent about 10000 yen which is about £50!
